Case study
One home for every student.
A working prototype of a student platform for PROPEL Center, wrapped around the course platform it already owns. Approved. Launch date to come.
The situation
PROPEL U is the course platform PROPEL Center already owns. Each challenge lived in its own space, and a student's profile lived inside a single challenge.
The thinking: if PROPEL U felt more like a hub, students might engage with it more. The one-click onboarding fix had already shown that the course platform could be built around.
So the question became: could the whole student experience be built around it, so students never leave PROPEL's site?
What was built
- One sign-in for every challenge.
- A Home with active and finished challenges.
- Each challenge in its own brand, with progress, the course, and a leaderboard.
- Profiles with a portfolio, badges, a dream job, and school logos.
- A network with a people directory, groups, a feed, messages, and connections.
- An employer view with candidate filters and company pages.
- A speaker series section with sign-up.
- An app-style phone layout with a bottom tab bar.
- A unique address for every screen.
What is real, and what is not
The lesson window is the real PROPEL U inside the page. Student progress can be read from PROPEL U.
Everything else runs on sample data that does not save. Today a student would sign in twice, until single sign-on is set up.
How it was built
October 1 to 4, 2026. 24 versions, each one shaped by feedback and screenshots.
- Every challenge page took on its own brand.
- The profile moved out of one challenge to the top level, with one sign-in.
- A doubled logo came out, and two leaderboards were merged into one.
- After a phone review, small text was enlarged, a bottom tab bar was added, and every Network tab was made visible without scrolling.
It was built on a private copy of the site. Sample students only. Forms turned off. Tracking removed. Links to live sign-ups blocked.
Tools: Webflow, PROPEL U, and Claude with its connectors (MCP).
What comes next
The platform is approved. There is no launch date yet. Before students use it:
- Single sign-on, so students sign in once.
- A real student sign-in on the site.
- A live feed of progress from PROPEL U.
- A database for profiles, connections, groups, posts, and messages.
- Employer accounts, with review before access.
- A moderation plan for posts and messages.
- A move to the real domain.
